The Bubble Suit

Two babies...11 months apart...one bored mom...and one green bubble suit (this is what gymboree calls it). Aren't best friends supposed to share clothes? Katie, per your request:

I think I'm going to have to get out her bag of clothes from last summer that I packed long ago, and see if any of them actually still fit her. I just assumed they wouldn't fit her after the winter, silly me!

Talking & Tantrums

Apparently they go hand in hand. Ainslee has started saying and trying to say a lot more words this week. She has reached the fun stage where we can ask her to say something and she tries to repeat it. Some new words this week include: kitty, green, keys, Jesus, and please. The Jesus one has been my favorite so far. We got a brochure from the Jehovah's Witness left on our door the other day and it had a picture of Jesus on the front of it. Being the paper lover that she is, Ainslee immediately wanted the brochure. So I handed it to her. She pointed to the picture and I said, "that's Jesus." She looked at me and smiled and said "Geeshush." From then on she would look at the picture and point and say Geeshush (we switched the brochure out for her Children's Bible), love it!

What I am not loving is the new outburst of tantrums. I think she is getting really frustrated with not being able to actually say what she needs to, that and she is just a tad impatient and stubborn. We are working on ways to reduce this issue, but any suggestions are much appreciated! Here are a few pictures to demonstrate the issue.

Baby Helpers

This week is Spring Break for Aunt Lauren and Uncle Trevor. They came down for a few days to play in San Antonio and were wonderful help with the two babies. Sunday was Lauren's birthday so we all went out for a fun birthday dinner. Monday morning Grammy came into town and we all planned to go to the zoo. Well, we finally made it out of the house by about 2:00 (it takes awhile to reload two carseats, feed & change two babies with varying nap schedules, load up a double stroller, and pack two diaper bags with plenty of bottles, sippy cups, diapers, and snacks!) We got to the zoo, in two cars, and there was NO place to park. It was packed! So we left and went shopping at the Quarry instead :)

Tuesday we made it out before noon and went to La Cantera for more shopping. Oh yea, it was St. Patrick's Day and every single one of us wore our green shirts. We had a fun time and let Ainslee play on the playground for awhile. She figured out how to climb all the levels and go down the slide on her tummy all by herself. She would not stop squealing, she was having so much fun. Ainslee and Cameron seemed to enjoy the strolling and I got a lot of compliments on how beautiful my babies were, and a few "how far apart are they?"

We stayed up late every night they were here and played dominoes until almost midnight. We are exhausted, but we enjoyed all our company!

Spring Break

Our Spring Break plans originally were to go skiing in Ruidoso, NM with Jason's parents. Well, there wasn't enough snow on the mountain for good skiing, so we decided to stay in a cabin on Medina Lake and go out in the boat for a few days. A lot less driving was another motivating factor. Well, a massively cold and rainy front blew through so those plans were nixed as well. We ended up just going to Kerrville and relaxing at Jason's parent's house instead. We had a great time even though the weather was far from Spring like.

Ainslee is becoming quite the country girl. She loves to go outside, see and pet the horses, and chase around the chickens. There was lots to keep her occupied at Grandma & Grandpa's!

Day Trip

Saturday morning we packed up and headed to Austin to visit Auntie Lo & Uncle Trevor for the day (we've decided spending the night in their loft apartment is just a little too challenging these days). We hadn't been able to spend time with them since before Christmas, way too long! This was Ainslee's first ride to enjoy her new forward view in the car. We left right before her morning nap time, thinking she would just sleep the whole way there... Well, let's just say she REALLY enjoyed her new view and stayed awake the ENTIRE 2 hours! No worries though because she sang, laughed, and danced the whole time. She was one happy little girl! We got to the apartment, had lunch, and let Ainslee show off all her new tricks. We decided to go to the Austin Children's Museum downtown and had a great time. It wasn't very big, but I think Ainslee loved the fact that she was free to run around and touch anything she wanted. We stayed for about 2 hours! We made a quick stop at the Patagonia store and had planned to go to the botanical gardens, but we were all a little worn out. We did stop at an overlook on our way back to the apartment and enjoyed the beautiful Austin scenery. Auntie Lo made us some wonderful homemade pizzas for dinner and then we left around Ainslee's bedtime. She conked out in about 5 seconds and slept the entire way home, glorious!

15 Months Old

First and foremost, Ainslee is now a forward facer! That's right, she finally hit the 20 lb mark. As soon as Daddy gets home we will officially turn the carseat around. I know she's going to love her new view.

I took Ainslee and Cameron to the doctor this morning for Ainslee's 15 mo. check up. We got a few "wow they are close in age" glances and one older lady in passing told me to just wait until they were teenagers (I didn't feel like explaining the situation). Even though it was naptime and they were both WIDE awake, we managed to get through the hour long wait and appointment without much difficulty.

Ainslee's stats this visit:

Weight-20lbs 9oz (15th percentile)

Height- 31.5" (80th percentile) she had a growth spurt!

Once again, tall and skinny. This also makes for difficulties finding clothes that fit, especially in the waist. She is in 9 or 12 month clothes for her weight, but 18 month for her height. I think she will be wearing a lot of baggy dresses this summer :)

Some of Ainslee's new tricks this month include a recent love for dancing. Any time she hears music she likes, she will spin in circles with her arms in the air and then clap. It is pretty much the cutest little dance ever! I can't wait for the future ballet recitals! Sometimes she will try to sing along with the music, a very sweet sound.

Ainslee has always loved animals and has been signing some animals, but will now make a lot of different animal sounds. If you ask her or she sees a duck, cow, chicken, dog, goat, or sheep she will respond with their sounds. Pure genius I tell you!

She has also gotten very good at following directions. Some random examples:

The other day she had milk on her nose after finishing her bottle. I told her to go wipe her nose off on the towel in the kitchen, just to see what she would do. Well, she walked up to the towel and rubbed her nose on it, I was shocked! She is also learning the purpose of different objects. She took her toy keys and held them up to the door knob, trying to unlock it. Never taught her that one, and we hardly ever use that door. Note to self-she is very observant! She will also do a headstand on command, she keeps her feet on the floor, but she is trying.

We have been so amazed at all her new abilities and tricks this month and are excited to see what she will amaze us with next!
