Fiesta

Well it's fiesta time in good 'ol San Antonio. We haven't ever been real big on partaking in any of the fiesta events in the past, but my good friend Katie convinced us to go see what the King William festival was all about. This is one of the more "family friendly" fiesta events that takes place in the afternoon in the King William District downtown. The area is filled with AMAZING old mansions. After parking a million miles away, we found the "festival." I say "festival" because we never really found out why we paid $5 a person. All we saw were food vendors galore, lots of dogs, and LOTS of people. We did find a snow cone stand, so we decided it was worth the trip :) Ainslee did great despite the heat and seemed to actually have fun. She made lots of "ooh ooh ooh" noises when we passed by dogs and at people that smiled at her.

This past weekend we went to Kerrville for a wedding reception. We had a great time and Ainslee got to meet a few more family friends. She also got to visit with two sets of her great grandparents.

On Sunday we thought we would give the Rice Cereal a try. Here is the sequence of events:

She wanted nothing to do with rice cereal. I have tried a couple more times and have had no luck. I even tried applesauce just to see if something that tasted better would be more appealing. I think it is still a spoon issue. We will wait a few more weeks and give it another try.

While she may not be eating, she is starting to SIT UP all on her own!

On another note, Ainslee has a new friend! Miss Addison Lane Simpson was born on Monday & we can't wait to see pictures of her. We get to go visit her in North Carolina in June!

Ainslee rolled!!! The best part is that I was actually able to grab the camera in time to get a video of the first roll. Back to tummy, tummy to back...she was just waiting until she knew she could do both :)

Getting 4 shots is exhausting!

Ainslee went for her 4 month check up this morning. The doc said she is growing well and is showing developmental signs of a 6 month old, I knew she was brilliant :) Now if we could just get her to roll over... Yesterday Ainslee discovered she has feet and that feet are fun to play with. She will pull her legs in, grab her feet, and roll over on her side and scream an amazingly ear piercing scream of delight.

Stats:

Weight- 13lbs 4oz (this puts her in the 40th percentile)

Height- 25 1/2 " (90th percentile)

Head- 30th percentile

For those w/o children, this translates to very tall, skinny, and really small head. Now I must clarify that I think that the way they measure height for babies is very subjective. They lay the baby on the table on top of the paper. They draw a line above the head and then mark below her feet. Now this would probably work fine for adults or even children who know how to lay still. A squirmy little baby does not stay in one spot! I do not believe in the accuracy of these measurements, so when Jason gets home from work I am going to stand her against a wall and get my own :)

Austin City Limits

Ainslee got to take a road trip to see Auntie Lo and Uncle "Twevor" (this is how we are hoping she will say Trevor's name) in Austin this weekend. We got there Saturday afternoon and hung out at their apartment until Trevor got off work. Apparently all that driving wore Ainslee out, so we ended up going to dinner pretty late after her nap. We had planned on eating at a restaurant close by on Lake Travis, but turns out there was a 2 hour wait, not so much w/ a 4 month old. So, we drove downtown and at a another yummy restaurant that was recommended by some of the teachers Jason works with. Sorry, can't remember the name :) But here is a picture of us there!

Miss Ainslee stayed up WAY past her bedtime, but thankfully slept until about 8:30 Sunday morning (such a good sleeper). Sunday afternoon we met Trevor at Hula Hut on Lake Austin and had another yummy lunch, despite the 1 1/2 hr wait. We enjoyed visiting on the lake and discovered that Ainslee's stroller is an excellent chip & dip holder :)

Later, our friends from college, Collin & Jennifer, came over so that Ainslee and their little boy, Caden could meet (since they are going to get married and all). They are about 1 year and 1 week apart.

4 Months Old

Miss Ainslee turned 4 months old today! This is the age of several new milestones: she is now old enough for rice cereal (yum?) and ExerSaucers . She has her 4 month check up with the doc on tuesday, so we will see if we get the green light on the cereal. As for the exersaucer, well I went to Target today in hopes of buying one. As it turns out those are some dang expensive little pieces of equipment. She got a couple of shirts instead :)

Vintage Baby

One of my favorite things since Ainslee was born is to dress her in my old clothes; I just have a thing for classic smocked dresses! My mom is by no means a "pack rat," but she did save just about every piece of clothing, toys, blankets, diapers (unused), pacifiers, etc....that my sister and I ever wore/used! Going through the boxes of clothes was a lot of fun, and below is one of the classic outfits we found. That's right, it's a 1980's Baby Lacoste sunsuit, in perfect condition I might add. I am also not sure if its just the sudden absurd amount of humidity or if Ainslee is starting to get some curl in her hair, apparently the left side is a little more curly :)
