2 Months Old!

Hattie Lane is 2 months old today!  She is such a sweet and, for the most part, laid back little girl.  She is smiling, cooing a bit, and holding her head up like a champ!  She started at around 7 weeks sleeping anywhere from 6 to 8 hour stretches at night then going right back to sleep after eating.  It is quite nice on days when Ainslee decides to sleep past 7:30!  Naps still take place any and everywhere.  I'm really hoping she stays small enough to sleep in the bassinet forever.
Big sister is still very much in love with her and I can see that the feelings are mutual.  Hattie is perfectly content as long as she can watch Ainslee.  We can't wait to watch them actually play together!
Hattie's doctors visit is tomorrow so I will update with the stats when I get them. Despite the massive amounts of spitting up, I think she's grown a ton!  She is wearing the same outfit Ainslee wore in her 2 month chair picture. 

Recent Ainslee-isms

Jason took Ainslee to a jr. high football game the other night.  The mighty Spikes won 28-0.  On the way home Jason asked Ainslee who won.  Her response:  "The blue team won and the white team....well, they did their best."

As I was putting her shoes on her the other day:  "I'm proud of you Mommy." 
Why are you proud of me Ainslee?
 "For all that you do to me."

Several times this week she also declared, "You're a good friend, Mommy!"

I had been trying, unsuccessfully, to air up an exercise ball (we discovered it's the secret to calming Hattie's upset tummy).  When Jason got home from work Ainslee pointed to it and told Jason he needed to "Suck it up!"  We finally figured out that she meant he needed to pump it up.

She has also recently been complimenting my (and Grammie's) clothes.  She will tell us she likes our shirt and then ask where we got it from.

"Zip. No talkin'!" (insert hand gestures of zipping your lips and a finger over your mouth) When asked where she learned that phrase she said, "School."  That would be the 1 day a MONTH class she is in while I attend MOPS. 

Another Beach Post

We made our second beach trip of the season, this time with the newest member of the Gilbreath family.  We went in the evening to avoid the heat and direct sun- it was great!  Hattie thought the ocean was just a really loud sound machine and was pretty chilled out the entire time.  Ainslee ran around, jumped the waves, and built lots of sand castles.

First Smiles

Hattie started smiling at 5 weeks old. It took a few times before I was convinced they were real smiles and not just gas, but now there is no mistaking. She loves to smile after a feeding when I'm changing her diaper. I love when you finally realize they DO like you! :)

Crazy Imagination

This little girl has developed a crazy imagination lately. She is constantly playing pretend, whether its running from lions, shopping at HEB, or driving a motorcylce. She loves to involve Mommy and Daddy in her games and tells us exactly what we need to do to play the game. She is also into performing and has made up some crazy dance and gymnastics moves. Before she sings a song now she will say, "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, for me's next song...." (I think she got that from her Letter Factory dvd). One of her other favorite activities is building houses. She will use any and all materials to complete this task. The other day she used just about every toy from her room and Hattie's. The house was giant! It was a beast to clean up, but it did keep her occupied for a few hours. :) She loves to play with her baby dolls, who have all recently been named Baby Hattie. She will feed them (imitating exactly how mommy feeds Hattie- not with a bottle), burp them, wipe up their "spit up," change their diapers, and put them down for naps. It's so fun to watch her imagination and see just how she perceives things around her. We just never know what she will come up with next!
