Kerrville House: Before & After

The remodel is complete...for this summer. There are still plenty of things we would like to do before we move in, but it is in amazing shape for renters (who are moving in tomorrow!). It took many, many hours of scraping, painting, fixing, wiring, buffing, peeling, cleaning, etc... We certainly could not have done it without the WONDERFUL help of our parents.

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July spent with friends in San Antonio. Lots of food, lots of babies, and lots of fun! We were in a burn ban, so no fireworks this year for Miss Ainslee.

7 Months Old

Ainslee is seven months old today! We have been so busy this month, that the time has just flown by. This has been a month of exciting new milestones in Ainslee's life. She had her first plane ride, first vacation, first time out of state, and first visit to the Doctor for something other than a "well-baby" all during the first week of June on our trip to North Carolina :) While we were in Kerrville for 2 weeks, Ainslee had her first real taste of baby food. After a few tries, she began to love it...she has tried squash, carrots, peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, and bananas. So far, squash is her favorite. She also learned how to spend a long time away from Mommy, while I was working on the house. She loved spending time w/ Grammy during the day, but Mommy really missed her! Also while we were in Kerrville, Ainslee cut a tooth! And the next day she cut another one! The bottom, middle two teeth are about half way out already. Thus began the next milestone....she is now completely bottle fed :) In just the past couple of days, she has started to pull up on things. She still needs a little bit of help, but is already crawling and diving all over our laps. The wonderful Bumbo no longer contains her, but she still loves her walker. When she is on her play mat she will try to crawl to get a toy, but so far she can only go in circles or backwards. This frustrates her to no end, but I think she will get the forward motion pretty soon. She is pretty strong willed and determined, hmmm....I wonder who she gets that from :) She is just as smiley as ever and loves to be out and about. She is quite a people watcher and loves to give big grins when someone looks her way. We have loved seeing her personality come out even more this month and are looking forward to seeing what's next for Ainslee.

NC Vacation

We had a fabulous trip to North Carolina & loved getting to see Josh & Laura and meet little Addison for the first time! We were so worried about how Ainslee would do on the plane, but she surpassed all expectations! Apparently the really loud "white noise" of the plane just put her right to sleep. She slept all the way to Dallas, through our layover (only 30 min.), and just about all the way to Charlotte, NC. We did have to all squeeze into the airplane bathroom at 30,000 feet when she decided to potty, let me tell you they don't make those changing tables very accommodating to actually being able to reach/change the baby. Our first day there we were able to make it out of the house around 3:30 pm for a trip to Target. The next day our first outing was to the pediatrician. Ainslee woke up from her morning nap completely covered in a little red dotted rash. It continued to get worse as the day went on, so we took her to visit Addison's doctor. The doc said it was just the end of a virus she had had prior, that we never knew she had, something called Viral Exanthem...sounds bad, but isn't, but lasted about 4 days. It also wasn't contagious, thank goodness, so then we went to get ice cream :) Each day we got progressively better at timing the babies feedings/naps and were able to leave the house earlier and for longer periods at a time. We had a blast touring downtown Hendersonville, Asheville, the Grove Park Inn, the Biltmore area, hiking around Sliding Rock & Looking Glass Falls, and just hanging out at the house. Ainslee loved to watch Addison and try to grab her, sure signs that they will be best friends :) We really wish they still lived in Texas, but are looking forward to many future vacations together!

Are we there yet?

Back in town!

I promise I haven't forgotten about the blog! We are finally back in San Antonio...for a few days. I have so many things I want to blog about! We have been in Kerrville for the past two weeks where my parents still have dial up internet (who knew that even still existed). Look for upcoming blogs about our trip to North Carolina, remodeling the new house in Kerrville, and Ainslee's latest milestones! More to come tomorrow...

6 Months Old

Dear Ainslee,
I can't believe how quickly you are growing up! In just 6 short months you have already learned how to do so much. You have become such a fun, silly, spunky, smiley, and independent little girl. You love to be around people and smile at them, although you currently only want Mommy or Daddy to hold you when you are around a lot of people. You also love animals. You could watch Charley kitty for hours, I even caught you trying to eat him! He is in big trouble when you learn how to walk... Your daddy and I are amazed every time we see you do something new. The other day you just started running full speed when you were in your "walker." Daddy and I stood there with our mouths open, we had no idea you could do that! We also love when you give us big slobbery "kisses." You are such a sweet little girl!
There is a song that is popular right now that always makes me think of you. It says:
Cause you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

I know that these are some GOOD times, but part of me is so excited to see how much you will change over the next 6 months, year, or 5 years. When I hear this song it just reminds me to savor every moment with you right now. I know you won't stay this little for very long. Your daddy and I love you so much and thank God for the blessing he has given us in you.

Life lately

It's been awhile since the last post. We've been pretty busy with all of the fun the end of May/beginning of June always brings. We closed on the Kerrville house, Jason is finishing up his last week of school, and we are headed to North Carolina on Saturday.

As of last week, Ainslee is officially a "sitter upper" (not even 6 months old, the proud mommy would like to add). She can sit all by herself and play with her toys for quite awhile and LOVES it. It makes her look so OLD!

Sitting on Mommy & Daddy's bed. This is the new face she has started making, so cute!

Last Friday Jason's parents, grandmother, aunt & cousin all came over to have lunch with us. We had a great time visiting and eating birthday cake. Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Sunday we went to a birthday party for Elizabel who is now ONE! This was Ainslee's first kid b-day party to attend & her first swimming experience. She had lots of fun at the party, not so much in the pool. I think it was a little too cold for her liking, she refused to sit down in the water :)

At least she knows how to pose...
