6 Months Old

Dear Ainslee,

I can't believe how quickly you are growing up! In just 6 short months you have already learned how to do so much. You have become such a fun, silly, spunky, smiley, and independent little girl. You love to be around people and smile at them, although you currently only want Mommy or Daddy to hold you when you are around a lot of people. You also love animals. You could watch Charley kitty for hours, I even caught you trying to eat him! He is in big trouble when you learn how to walk... Your daddy and I are amazed every time we see you do something new. The other day you just started running full speed when you were in your "walker." Daddy and I stood there with our mouths open, we had no idea you could do that! We also love when you give us big slobbery "kisses." You are such a sweet little girl!

There is a song that is popular right now that always makes me think of you. It says:

I know that these are some GOOD times, but part of me is so excited to see how much you will change over the next 6 months, year, or 5 years. When I hear this song it just reminds me to savor every moment with you right now. I know you won't stay this little for very long. Your daddy and I love you so much and thank God for the blessing he has given us in you.

Life lately

It's been awhile since the last post. We've been pretty busy with all of the fun the end of May/beginning of June always brings. We closed on the Kerrville house, Jason is finishing up his last week of school, and we are headed to North Carolina on Saturday.

As of last week, Ainslee is officially a "sitter upper" (not even 6 months old, the proud mommy would like to add). She can sit all by herself and play with her toys for quite awhile and LOVES it. It makes her look so OLD!

Last Friday Jason's parents, grandmother, aunt & cousin all came over to have lunch with us. We had a great time visiting and eating birthday cake. Happy Birthday Grandpa!


Sunday we went to a birthday party for Elizabel who is now ONE! This was Ainslee's first kid b-day party to attend & her first swimming experience. She had lots of fun at the party, not so much in the pool. I think it was a little too cold for her liking, she refused to sit down in the water :)

Our Latest Adventure...

The "before" picture

Yes, we bought a house in Kerrville! No, we aren't moving...yet. We found a STEAL of a deal on a house down the street from my parents. The house is twice the size of our current home and the best part is that it is on an ACRE, with TONS of trees. It was a foreclosure and needs tons of renovating, but we are up for the challenge. The plan is to rent it out for a year and then move to Kerrville next summer. We would love for Ainslee to grow up so close to both sets of her grandparents. You just never know what we Gilbreaths are going to do next... :)

A few "firsts"

Ainslee had a few "first" moments this past week. She has decided that sleeping on her tummy is a lot more comfortable than on her back. Luckily, she has completely mastered rolling so she no longer screams to be flipped over when she gets tired of being on her stomach.

Last night I was making guacamole and decided to see if Ainslee liked avocado, since I ended up with a ton of it on my fingers. Turns out she loves it! I think the rice cereal issue is just that it taste gross, have you ever smelled the stuff???

She is also getting quite good at sitting on her own, I think within the next couple of weeks she will have it totally mastered.

And last, but not least...she went to childcare at the church! Now this is probably a bigger milestone for mommy than it is for Ainslee, but she managed to make it the entire time! Such a big girl!

Mother's Day in Kerrville

We spent Mother's Day in Kerrville this year. We had a wonderful Mother's Day lunch at the Gilbreath's and a wonderful Mother's Day dinner at the Rouse's. We enjoyed spending time with both families!

Houston Trip

Last Friday Jason was asked to go as the "administrator on duty" to a band/choir trip to Houston. This basically meant that Jason had to be in Houston with his cell phone turned on from 10 am - 8 pm. So, we packed up the family and headed to Houston for a day-o-fun! Our friend Katie let us borrow her GPS system so that we would be able to find things to do & places to go (p.s. I want one now!) First we headed to the Galleria and spent about four hours shopping and walking around. One of our friends from high school met up w/ us there, so we had a good time catching up with her.

After the galleria we headed for the zoo. I have been wanting to take Ainslee to the zoo since before she was born! Here's a tip, NO ONE is at the zoo at 5:00 pm on a Friday, it was great. Ainslee loved it way more than we were expecting. She got so excited anytime she saw an animal. Her favorites were the fish aquariums, prairie dogs, and pink flamingos...totally random, and not most people's favorites, but they were hers! She would wave her arms, kick her legs, and make her little happy noises every time she got near them. I can't wait to take her to the San Antonio zoo soon!


After 2 hours of zoo fun in the 97 degree weather and insane humidity, we were famished and determined to use our Chili's gift card. Looking back, I don't know why we thought that this was a good idea. Ainslee had been wonderful all day and it was already her usual bedtime. Lets just say it was possibly the worst dining experience ever! It ended w/ Jason walking a screaming baby outside (after finishing a cheeseburger in 2.3 seconds) and me eating, as fast as I could, inside by myself...not fun. Once we got her in the car though, she fell asleep immediately and slept the entire way home. We got home completely exhausted at midnight, but had a wonderful day!

5 Months Old

Another month has flown by- can't believe our baby girl is 5 months old already! Jason says she's going to be 1 before we know it, I agree. We are really enjoying her little personality these days. It amazes me that someone that can't even talk (technically speaking) can be so humorous and entertaining. She LOVES to smile these days. It is so fun to see her give strangers a big grin, she lights up the room! She even gave Charley Cat a big grin this morning, and she loves to talk to him, and pull all his fur out as she "pets" him. Luckily he is very laid back with her and just takes it. She sucks in air and makes this crazy sounding noise when she gets really excited, it's like she can't even contain her excitement and has to get it out some how. She will also flap her arms and kick her legs really fast when she gets excited or happy about something. Peek-a-boo is becoming a fast favorite & she loves to go on walks.

Last Friday was "Pantherama" (carnival) at Jason's school celebrating the end of TAKS, wohoo! Ainslee and I met Jason up there after school. Daddy enjoyed showing off his daughter to his students and some of the teachers that hadn't yet met her. She did great the entire 3 hours we were there. We had to stay until the end because Jason was selected to take part in the dunking booth, quite entertaining :)


Too pooped for Cotton Candy- but hey, we got a gig'em!


Saturday we went shopping, found nothing and lost one of those cute little flip-flops as seen in the above picture. Not a successful day!

Sunday Old Navy called, Cinderella's missing slipper (or in this case flip-flop) was found. We went to McAllister park (one of our favs in SA) and took a wonderful long nature walk. Then we made our way back to the other side of SA, retrieved the shoe, bought a bathing suit, hung out at Border's, and ate dinner at Freebirds. Sunday was a great day!
